Meet AshLeigh Berglund
The Academy has been the best thing to happen in my life thus far. This is the perfect program for me as I have finally found the correct academic environment to challenge me.
Hey! My name is AshLeigh Berglund. I’m sixteen years old and I am enrolled at Union Grove High School as a junior as this is my first year in the Advanced Academy! I initially heard about the Advanced Academy through my older brother, Michael, who attended the Academy when he was a junior. The Academy has been the best thing to happen in my life thus far. This is the perfect program for me as I have finally found the correct academic environment to challenge me. However the Academy offers much more than a rigorous academic atmosphere; I’ve excelled here socially, in addition to continuing my extensive participation in extracurricular activities and sports. I’m on the Residence Hall Council and am on the Association of Residence Hall Councils. Through these organizations I’ve co-headed the Publicity Crew for our Election Party and our Winter Dance. Also this year I’ve attended SAACURH, a conference for publicizing successful programming for Residence Hall Councils, held over Halloween weekend at Clemson University. I go to The Fish House, a Christian service held a little off-campus every Monday and was on the Intramural Flag Football team.
Furthermore, I remain active in my community at home as I am the Head Spiritual Chair for the Youth Council at my church, Stockbridge First United Methodist Church.
